Renfrewshire Law Centre (RLC) uses our legal system to improve the life chances of individuals and groups facing poverty or disadvantage across Renfrewshire. We provide legal advice and representation, often free of charge. RLC is part of the Scottish Association of Law Centres and an Associate Member of the Law Centres Federation.
We receive financial support from the Scottish Government's Fairer Scotland Fund and the Scottish Legal Aid Board as well as assistance from Renfrewshire Council. The legal work of RLC is undertaken by Jon Kiddie Lawyers, a wholly independent law firm regulated by the Law Society of Scotland. The Advice Section of the RLC website contains information on Scots law only. It is meant as a general guide only. It is not case-specific, and users should not rely on it as definitive advice for specific cases. Users facing real-life legal issues should consult a qualified lawyer. Information is believed to be correct as at last date of review, and may not be entirely up-to-date. RLC cannot accept any liability for loss, injury or other damage sustained by users by reason of their placing reliance on this information. The 'Got a question' Q&A facility is for Renfrewshire residents and subject to available time. The legal content of this website is copyright of Jon Kiddie Lawyers 2009 or later, unless specified otherwise. The RLC logo is copyright of Jon Kiddie Lawyers 2008.
RLC SERVICES DURING ADVERSE WEATHER: PLEASE NOTE RLC MAY NOT BE IN A POSITION TO OFFER ITS USUAL FULL RANGE OF SERVICES DURING ADVERSE WEATHER, AND MAY HAVE TO OPEN LATE OR CLOSE EARLY IN INTERESTS OF STAFF HEALTH & SAFETY. IF YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT OR WISH TO USE THE DROP-IN SURGERY, YOU ARE ADVISED TO TELEPHONE AT THE START OF THE DAY TO CONFIRM WHETHER THE APPOINTMENT OR SURGERY WILL PROCEED.
It is expected of clients and service-users of Renfrewshire Law Centre that they will treat solicitors and staff with courtesy and respect. Any individual who does not do so may be asked to leave and banned from accessing the Law Centre and its services at the discretion of the Principal Solicitor.
