Charities Law
An organisation may register as a charity if it has a charitable purpose and exists for public benefit.
A charities may set up as a private limited company, an unincorporated association or a trust. If a private limited company it must also register with Companies House, making it subject to the rules regulating companies as well as those for charities.
Reasons set up as a private limited company include:-
- The charity is likely to be a large organisation.
- It is likely to employ people.
- It is likely to enter into contracts to deliver or to use services.
- It is likely to own property.
A company should be registered in the country where its Registered Office is situated.
