Jobseeker's Allowance
Jobseeker’s Allowance is the main benefit for people of working age who are out of work or work less than 16 hours a week on average. An individual must be between 18 and 60. If you're eligible, it is paid while you're looking for work.
There are two types of jobseekers allowance, contribution-based and income-based. If an individual has not paid enough National Insurance Contributions (NICs) then an individual is not permitted to claim contribution-based jobseekers allowance.
An individual may claim Jobseekers allowance by telephone or online.
